Nomiya Izakaya, Quezon City — Tried a Japanese bar izakaya in Quezon City when we were feeling adventurous one night. And we found this tiny restaurant that offers a relaxing vibe and where you can feed those late nights hunger.

Nomiya Izakaya menu (Quezon City)
It was 6 PM when we arrived at Nomiya Izakaya and we were surprised to find very few people since it was a Sunday night. Nonetheless, it was great that we didn’t have to wait long to be seated.

The staff welcomed us warmly, and gave us our seats, handed out the Nomiya menu, and we immediately browsed.

The menu was quite simple with only two pages and everything’s in it.
Kanifornia maki

The first thing that we ordered was the kanifornia maki. Sounds funny, but the name suggests what’s in this maki — kani, meaning crab sticks, and california maki, the basic maki here in the Philippines.
This one karnifornia maki is composed of the usual california maki roll topped with shredded kani. I’m sure you’ve tried this type of maki but with a different name. This one has the usual — mango, cucumber, and kani inside each roll.
Kaizen futomaki
One of my favorites when it comes to maki is futo maki. I like that you have everything inside a slice of roll. But the thing with futo maki is that you should eat the whole piece to be able to appreciate it.

With Nomiya Izakaya’s futo maki, you’re getting so many things in every bite. There’s tuna, salmon, tamago, cucumber, and kani inside. What else could you ask for?
Beef teppan
Get a boost of protein when you order beef teppan.

You know that Nomiya Izakaya’s chef know his beef because the beef teppan is cooked just right — not bloody, but not too well done. So you’re enjoying the beef pieces bite after bite.
Beef teppan comes with a side of vegetables for that healthier dish.
Black garlic shoyu ramen

Classic savory broth is what the black garlic shoyu ramen is all about!
I love the garlicky taste that you can savor when you sip the soup, plus, the stringy noodle. (Make sure to eat it fast so it doesn’t get soggy!)
Gyudon

Not all gyudons are the same, but Nomiya Izakaya’s a lot different than the usual gyudon’s you can find.
Apart from having a soft-boiled egg in the middle, this beef rice bowl also have beech mushrooms. How cool is that? Especially if you’re someone who loves their mushrooms – due to their heart health and immune-supporting properties!
Chicken Karaage

That one thing that’s surely a hit whether it’s for kids or adults is chicken karaage. Nomiya Izakaya’s tori karaage comes with 5 pieces of deep-fried chicken thighs and a side salad of cabbage with sesame dressing.
We love dipping the chicken in Japanese mayo!

Nomiya Izakaya & Sake Bar reviews conclusion
I know that my Nomiya Izakaya & Sake Bar photos are a bit dark and lacking in lighting, but I hope that my review has made you realize whether to try here or not. Apparently, this photos were taken a year ago, so there could be some changes already.

More Japanese restaurants
After reading this Nomiya Izakaya review, you can still learn more about my other Japanese restaurant reviews below to give you more ideas on where to eat!
Kyoto Japanese Restaurant
With our recent visit to Kyoto Malate, we were surprised to find more people eating there. And it seems that the management has changed also, so the menu and the staff has changed. But to know more, you can check here.
Washoku Musashi Maru

We first discovered authentic Japanese dishes here at Washoku Musashi Maru. And it’s still a place we frequent whenever we go to Glorietta. I love how you can get quality Japanese dishes here at a reasonable price.

Tomo Japanese Dining

Another place in QC where people line up is Tomo Japanese Dining.
And it’s no wonder why, because there are a lot to choose from from Tomo Restaurant menu, but apart from that, you know you’re getting quality dishes. Make sure to make a reservation or head here early to be seated.
