Shorncliffe and Scarborough, Queensland – When visiting Queensland, you might have heard about Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. But did you know that there are also so many great places to visit when you go to Shorncliffe and Scarborough? Learn more about what you can do here.
The first place we went to when we visited our friends in Queensland is Brisbane City. And if you’re a young family who have watched Bluey, I’m sure you’re gonna enjoy Brisbane because there are so many familiar spots there where Bluey visited with his friends.

More Queensland places to visit
This is my last Queensland itinerary, so I hope to make the best yet before moving to Melbourne! Make sure to follow me so that you’re updated on my next Australia itineraries!
But before we move to a different place, below are some of the places we visited before we left Queensland!
We left my friend’s home after our hearty breakfast and, as always, they drove us around for the last day. So we didn’t go to very far places on so as not to tire them out completely!
Burpengary East

It was 11 AM when we reached Burpengary East. More commonly known as “The Gary,” the place didn’t have the charm of Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast.
But I was really fascinated with how it looked.

The place we checked out looks like a swamp with lots of ducks swimming about – which is actually called Krause Park. We even saw turtle swimming in the water, so you’re sure that the body of water was clean! While there really is nothing else to do here, it’s a nice place to unwind especially if you’ve been in a busy week.
Watching nature has been one of the best things here in Queensland, and the best part is that the weather isn’t that hot because it was almost winter when we went there. Do take note that winter here in Queensland isn’t as cold as how winter is in Sydney and Canberra.
If you’re on the more adventurous side, you can also try out the Clay target shooting in the area!
Morgan Fish and Chips
About a 30-minute drive from Krause Park, the famous Morgan Fish and Chips was our next destination.
The timing was perfect because it was lunchtime! And our friend had been talking about this place since the day we passed here. And today happened to be our lucky day because we finally got to eat fish and chips before leaving Queensland!

The eatery wasn’t that crowded during our visit, but some people were enjoying the area. You can choose to sit in a typical restaurant space, but we chose to sit beside Scarborough Boat Harbour.
And this crown jewel of Queensland Seafood Outlets certainly didn’t disappoint!
We ordered the seafood platter and had the fish of the day, sadly we forgot to ask what type of fish it was! Still, it tasted like barramundi, so it probably is that fish. The order came with a generous serving of chips – great for sharing!

The calamari we got were very tender, and as you dip it in the tartar sauce, you know you’re in for another ring!
We also ordered the beef burger, but it wasn’t the best; however, my son loved it, so there’s nothing to complain about anymore!

Another thing to consider buying here at Morgan’s Fish and Chips market is the wide variety of seafood to choose from. We checked the wet market and saw lots – I mean it! – of different types of sea creatures you can take out.

Shorncliffe
Another 30-minute drive and we reached Shorncliffe Pier.
Would you believe this pier was built between 1883 and 1884? Yep. The longest timber pier in Brisbane, Shorncliffe Pier is a historical landmark where people walk, fish, and just relax after a day’s stress.
Looking at the vast area, I was in awe about how it stood the test of time.

And when it was time, we went back and found a nearby playground for the kids to play first. Another thing to commend here in Australia is that they have lots of free parks for kids to enjoy. Best of all, most parks have free water refilling stations, so you can just bring your bottle and get hydrated when you’re there!
Tinchi Tamba Wetlands
The sky was cloudy, but it didn’t stop us from going to Tinchi Tamba Wetlands.
After all, it was the last place we’re visiting here in Queensland, so why stop when the sun was still up? It was already 4 PM when we reached the 380-hectare reserve. There are lots of things to do here that you can do to kill time.

If you love fishing, you can, but you can also do bird watching. There’s a walking trail if you love hiking, but you can also stay in the area and enjoy the stillness while having a picnic with your family and friends.
The only thing you have to take note of is to bring a mosquito repellent because there are so many large-sized mosquitoes everywhere! It was rainy when we got there, and these large insects were flying about our heads. I was afraid of getting bitten — thankfully my friend is a girl’s scout she had the mosquito repellent in her bag always.

Scarborough and Shorncliffe Queensland reviews conclusion
I can’t believe we’re now done with Queensland places! Our stay here was short but sweet, and I’ll forever treasure the bond we had with my long-time friend! Can’t wait to be back again soon for more Queensland itinerary recos!

Oh, to be back in Bluey spots in Brisbane City is one of the things I’d love to do! We missed some spots – so it’s a must we go back next time! You’re curious which places we visited in Brisbane City? Check here!
Gold Coast

For me, Gold Coast is a place to visit if you love theme parks! We passed by so many theme parks; however, due to the bad weather, we weren’t able to go in them! Make sure to check them out if you love thrilling rides!
Sunshine Coast

Now, it’s more understandable why Sunshine Coast is called as such! There are lots of great beaches there, and one usually goes to the beach when the sun’s out! Thankfully, we didn’t have to commute to get there, so what are the Sunshine Coast places to visit? Know here.
