Hotel Okura Manila: Rich Features That Are Hard To Resist

Hotel Okura Manila – We love Japan, but I wasn’t aware that we’d find a Japanese hotel in Manila. When we heard about Hotel Okura Manila, we know its a place we have to check out – so we know if it’s at par with its Japanese counterpart!

We also stayed at JR Hotel Okura – which is located in Nagasaki, Japan. Make sure to read my review if you’re planning to go there!

Have you been to Newport Mall? The one that’s near NAIA?

If yes, then you must be familiar with the different Newport hotels (Manila). There are actually a lot of hotels nearby, but the 5 international hotels included in the Newport World Resorts are:

Hilton Manila

Sheraton Manila Hotel

Marriott Manila

Hotel Okura

Holiday Inn Express

Today, I’m going to give you a tour of the Hotel Okura Manila. And maybe in the future, I’ll be able to write the others as well. Do check out my Sheraton Manila Hotel review here!

Quick tour of Hotel Okura Manila rooms

There aren’t many Japanese hotel Manila offers. So, when we learned Hotel Okura is one, we knew we wanted to book a night there to experience Japan without leaving the country. I took lots of Hotel Okura Manila photos for you, so you know whether it’s worth the booking price.

Spacious room

I must say I’m impressed with Hotel Okura’s room size. We usually book Deluxe Room and this one’s above all the others in terms of room size. For the large size of 58 sq meters, you’re really gonna enjoy the huge space inside.

Large comfort room

The comfort room would surely make you feel comfortable, because just like the room itself, the toilet is huge as well. Apart from a separate toilet bowl and shower room, there’s a bathtub where you can spend hours just lounging around.

But, wait!

You also have a huge dresser in between, so you can apply your skin care, makeup, blow-dry your hair, and so on, without worrying about bumping into someone else using the bathroom.

Rotating TV

Where else can you see a rotating TV in hotels?

After visiting hotels around the Philippines, it’s our first time seeing a rotating TV inside a hotel room. I mean, they’re all deluxe rooms, but Hotel Okura’s certainly different from the others.

Amenities

Of course, you also want to know other things you can do aside from resting in your rooms. That’s why, below are the Hotel Okura amenities to watch out for!

Swimming Pool

Most hotels have swimming pools, and so does Hotel Okura.

Their pool is huge, but the only thing I didn’t like is that it’s fully uncovered, so sunburn is real. Make sure to apply your sunscreen before you dip in the pool!

If you have kids, it’s best that your things are kids-safe. This spray is only 493 PHP only here.

Here are my 2 favorite sunscreens!

Apart from the easy application, you don’t feel sticky when you want to take a stroll along the beach, because they’re non-greasy. Other than that, they’re safe for kids, so you’re hitting 2 birds with 1 stone!

Safe for face, this Biore sunscreen spray is my favorite! Less than 500 PHP here.

Gym

After all that eating over the holidays (and we’re not done yet!), it’s time to hit the gym. And your fitness plan doesn’t have to stop when you stay at Hotel Okura Manila. Because in their gym, you can do lots of different workouts.

Not just treadmill or weights, expect to see more than that. I’m not even familiar with how they’re called, so I just took photos for you to identify them.

Onsen

Here’s something unusual! While other Manila hotels have spas and saunas, Hotel Okura Manila has a slightly different style.

Patterned after Japanese-style onsens, Hotel Okura spa is a place where you can relax indoors, and remove toxins from your body in saunas. I like that they imitated the ones we visited in Japan.

The only difference is that you can go there not naked!

Breakfast buffet at Yawaragi

Something to look forward to when you wake up in the morning is the Hotel Okura Philippines breakfast buffet. Just looking at the restaurant’s aesthetic interior is enough to make you want to stay there whole day!

But a grumbling stomach is more excited about the Japanese dishes awaiting it once you reach the buffet table!

Where else could you find a legit chicken karaage in hotel breakfast?

It wasn’t surprising that Hotel Okura buffet breakfast was mainly composed of Japanese dishes. But expect to find your usual Western-style breakfast as well, in case you aren’t happy with a unique breakfast.

Hotel Okura Manila restaurants

The 2 main Hotel Okura restaurants you need to check are Yawaragi and Yamazato. Both offer quality Japanese dishes at quite a price. But you know that what you’re paying for is quality, so, it’s great to try them – and see for yourself which one’s to your liking.

Yawaragi

Yawaragi is a Hotel Okura Manila buffet restaurant where you can enjoy lots of Japanese dishes. Majority of them are great tasting dishes, and many aren’t just your typical Japanese restaurant food you can find here in the Philippines.

Soft shell crab?!

I was fascinated with the soft shell crab dish Yawaragi has during our visit. They even have many mochi desserts, and yummy sweet pastries to try at the end of your meal.

Yamazato

The 2nd Japanese restaurant in Okura Hotel Philippines is called Yamazato. Found on the 2nd floor, this restaurant offers a la carte dishes using only the freshest ingredients. Choose whether you want sushi or teppanyaki for your meal.

You can even book private rooms in advance – for teppanyaki – for an intimate experience.

Hotel Okura Manila reviews conclusion

No matter which among the rooms of Hotel Okura Manila prices you pay, I’m sure you’ll have a blast and enjoy your stay because of the amenities you can use. Apart from that, the breakfast buffet will make you feel like you’re in Japan due to the Japanese-inspired dishes.
