Hotel Okura buffet

We arrived at about 7 PM for our dinner, and what I liked about Yawaragi Okura is the serene feeling you get, because the place wasn’t crowded even though all the tables were occupied.

Very cute! But, it’s only for display!

If you’re planning to try it out, make sure to book ahead to secure seats. The first time we tried booking days before eating, we got a “fully booked” notice, so I had to find other dates. Until finally finding the right date – that’s 2 weeks before the night we ate, we went for it.

After the staff brought us to our table, I immediately started checking the Yawaragi buffet.

Beef, soup, and grilled dishes

On the center aisle is where you’ll find the grill, and they had quite an ample meat for grilling. I tried the satay chicken and seabass, and they had that really refreshing taste. The satay chicken was surprisingly sweet – unlike the usual nutty flavor of the dish.

The seabass was so fresh that you’d want another order, though it may be a bit bland, so make sure to get a sauce where you can dip it to add more flavor. However, the meat of the fish was so tender, so don’t be afraid to order another.

To the left, you’ll find the roasted wagyu beef brisket. And you can have them cooked anyway you want. The chef will grill it in front of you, and you can watch until he cooks it to your preferred doneness. A gravy and pepper sauce are on the side for your enjoyment.

Along with the beef, there are soups to choose from. There’s laksa and sukiyaki, and I tried the latter, but was a bit taken aback, since it was on the salty side.

Pasta, tempura, and seafood

To the right of the center aisle, you’ll be amazed because they have a large cheese, so you know what you’ll get if you order their pasta! And while you may think that Hotel Okura buffet dinner offers mostly Japanese, you can see Yang Chow fried rice on the side and some other International dishes too.

Beside the pasta, there’s the tempura – Yawaragi menu has shrimp, fish, and vegetable. After the row of pasta dishes, the chef for cooking seafood is there.

Japanese maki and dishes

Moving on to the next section, there are cheeses, and lots of quality makis. Yes, they taste great and not that “ricey” – or should I say, they aren’t rolled with so much rice you’ll get too full! I liked that they have a wide selection to choose from and they taste legit.

On the next section, I was surprised to find another food unusually found in any other hotel buffet. A soft-shelled crab?! Where else would you find this? I literally stuffed my face with this because they’re oh so crunchy and juicy! Make sure not to miss it when you go there!

Want some fried soft-shell crab??

And another I’d like to commend is the potato leek soup – because it was so comforting and filling that I’d like to bring home a bowl or two. My son also loved it and gulped down a whole bowl of it.

Other cuisine

On the other side, I found other cuisine, there were chicken pandan, pad thai, and some more Chinese dishes like kung pao chicken and the likes. I wasn’t a fan of them, but I did like the fried seabass coated with sweet and savory sauce.

This seabass was superb! 👌

Dessert

What’s not to miss is the dessert. We especially loved the chocolate mochi balls (make sure to get as much because I only got 1 huhu), but the milk chocolate hazelnut mochi also tasted great! It was like a soft Ferrero Roche chocolate!

Sadly, they didn’t have matcha-flavored ice cream, which dismayed hubby, but don’t worry, because you can have ube, wasabi (a bit spicy and quite unique), and taho flavored ice cream! They still have others, and all are made by Manila Creamery, so you’re sure of the quality!

I also tried another dessert I have seen only for the first time!

Included in the Hotel Okura dinner buffet is what they call Autumn Mille Feuille Craft Bar – don’t ask me how to read it. And in this bar, you can create your mille feuille as you like. You pile the puff pastry together after squeezing an ample amount of the cream – which you can have whichever flavor you want.

Of course, I chose the matcha flavor, cause that’s what appealed to me more!

And voila! The taste was nice to cleanse off my palate! The creamy matcha topping melts in your mouth as you bite through the crunchy pastry – which tasted like an otap, fyi.
