This is how Arthur Z Restaurant looks like!

Arthur Z Restaurant menu price

Upon entering the Sta. Cruz restaurant, the staff gave us the Ongping Arthur Z Restaurant Manila menu. And surprisingly, they have a lot to offer. We scanned through the laminated Chinese food menu, and found our favorites.

After learning from the staff about their bestsellers, we decided which ones to try first, since it was our first visit. And you’ll be surprised about how much we had without spending 2,000 PHP (33.96 USD)!

Baktaw

As a local who’ve eaten seafood growing up, I’m familiar with the term baktaw after seeing it on the menu. However, it was my first time seeing it at a Chinese restaurant menu, and since the staff suggested it, we couldn’t help but try it out.

The staff said the squid is steamed with soy sauce, so I was expecting the ones we usually eat at home before. However, we were surprised when the dish arrived, and it was definitely a great suggestion by the staff!

The squid was cooked perfectly – no, it isn’t chewy! – and pairs so well with the soy sauce added to it. I highly suggest it if you love squid!

Kiampeng

Another food that caught our eye was kiampeng. Literally translating to “salty rice,” kiampeng is a Chinese rice dish cooked with mushrooms, chicken, pork, or whatever ingredients you may have on hand.

It’s a good rice dish, only they didn’t use sticky rice. Nonetheless, it had an excellent taste!

Cha misua

We’re lowcarb eaters, but for some reason, I couldn’t take my eyes off the cha misua. We ordered the small and got a lot for sharing!

My son ate a lot of the misua, something he didn’t like before. The included meat and veggies were just enough to keep you from getting hungry. And we even had some for take home to eat in lunch the next day!

Oyster cake

Hubby was craving oyster cake, and since Arthur Z Restaurant is famous for the dish, he wanted to come and try it. Turns out, it’s the same one he’s been ordering from Grab.

Obviously, the small-sized oyster cake plate was empty by the end of the night! So, if your family loves it, make sure to order a medium or large size.

Fried oyster

I was amused that Arthur Z Restaurant also had fried oysters on their menu. Not listed under the main dishes, rather, it was found under pulutan. True enough, when it arrived, it’s a great food to partner with an alcoholic beverage, just like any other fried finger food!

However, it was quite different from the usual fried oyster that we eat. Because Arthur Z’s had large pieces on the plate, and it seemed that there were some cassava starch included in each piece.

Nonetheless, it pairs well with spicy vinegar, and I’m sure you’ll like it too if you go there to have a long chitchat with your friends.

Salt and pepper spareribs

Of course, it’s just right that we order another protein source for our little one. And we ordered salt and pepper spareribs instead of the sweet and sour pork. According to hubby, their salt and pepper spareribs is more famous than the other one, so we chose this one instead.

And our son was delighted in it.

He ate it with gusto, asking for more when he finished the ones on his plate.

Arthur Z Restaurant review conclusion

And there you have it. I did my best to capture the best Arthur Z photos for you to see, but I’m not sure if they were justified. When going to Binondo, Chinese restaurant will surely be on your list of food to try, and this one’s just one you should try.

If theirs isn’t the best oyster cake for you, then, I don’t know what is. It’s our first time hearing about this Binondo restaurant, but seeing how the restaurant looks, it seemed to have existing for quite some time already.

I hope you enjoyed this Arthur Z Restaurant review I did. If there’s a restaurant you want me to write about, just write in comments, and we’d gladly try it out for you!
