Old Saigon Restaurant, Binondo – When I’ve heard about Old Saigon, I’ve been wanting to try it out. However, since we don’t know where Old Saigon Binondo parking is, we haven’t been there until one fine afternoon, we were walking and finally decided to dine there – especially since there wasn’t a queue at that time.

Binondo must eat
Some of the most famous Binondo eats are dimsum, milktea, hopia, and lumpia. However, there’s more on the menu that you have to check out. And one of them is the famous Vietnamese restaurant that opened quite recently, Old Saigon pho restaurant.
And since we just recently tried it during off peak hours, we didn’t have to wait in line just to be seated. Thankfully! Since it’s quite hot to wait outside, be sure to arrive before people start lining up!
Old Saigon Cafe menu
On the Old Saigon menu, there’s not that much to choose from, but some of the most famous Vietnamese dishes. But having few choices meant easier to choose what to eat – so below are what we tried from the Old Saigon Binondo menu.
Fresh spring rolls
What’s something to break your hunger are appetizers, especially since they’re very easy to make. Inside the fresh rice wrapper are mostly noodles wrapped inside lettuce. With a piece of shrimp and meat, you’re sure to enjoy this fresh spring roll.
Make sure to dip it in the peanut sauce – which was a bit bland for me, so if you’re someone who doesn’t love too tasty dish, this one’s food for you. PRO TIP: I added a bit of hoisin sauce (found on the table) for more flavor!
Special rare beef noodle soup
The first sip of the Old Saigon Restaurant beef noodle soup made me want to sip some more! The very tasty flavor of the soup was very inviting!
I believe that my Old Saigon Cafe photos couldn’t give justice to how the soup tastes. The flat noodles were cooked just right, with all the floating beef balls. However, we just didn’t like that much the ground beef included in the beef bowl.
For us, we prefer thin slices of beef we had before from a different restaurant. The ground beef was surprisingly tough, and quite hard to chew on, so take this into account if you want to order this beef noodle soup.
Old Saigon Restaurant staff also gave another plate with lettuce, mung bean sprouts, and calamansi. If it’s your first time to eat a Vietnamese beef noodle soup, you’re supposed to add the veggies to the soup, then squeeze the calamansi or lemon juice for that added refreshing taste.
Vietnamese broken rice
I had a question mark on my face when I saw the name Vietnamese broken rice. Dunno what it meant, but then the photo made it clear, thankfully. We got it for our son, and the marinated porkchop tasted great!
The only downside was that the portion of the porkchop was quite small, specially for us who love meat. Nonetheless, the order included steamed egg, sliced carrots and radish, and some cucumber. A sunny side up egg was also on top of the rice to ensure you finish full.
Old Saigon branches
As of writing, there are 2 Old Saigon Restaurant branches. One is in Binondo, where we ate, and another is in Makati, Linear Residences.
Old Saigon Binondo reviews conclusion
I’m surprised that the food in Old Saigon Binondo prices aren’t that pricey, so if you want to have fun eating while enjoying the homey Vietnamese local vibe, then you should try here. Here in Binondo, it’s very rare to find other cuisine that’s actually quite nice in taste.

I like that they don’t use that thick dimsum wrapper to wrap their xiao long baos. Add to that, they also have other dishes – I also loved the beef rice we tried! The space was a bit small, but they’re not that crowded, so you can just go in and eat whenever you want!
Arthur Z Restaurant
In a tiny street in Binondo, we learned about Arthur Z Restaurant, and knew we’d be ordering here more often than we should!

1919 Grand Cafe Restaurant
After being here in Binondo for quite some time, 1919 Grand Cafe finally became our target, and apart from its pretty aesthetic indoors, the food was surprisingly just as good!
Sometimes you have the notion that a pretty aesthetic was just about the place, but here, they also serve great dishes! Most of their dishes have huge servings which you can share with your family and friends.
