Toyota Commemorative Museum – I’m not really a fan of cars, but the 2 people I am with love them, so I knew it’s a wise choice to visit Toyota Commemorative Museum. Apart from seeing lots of cars, I learned so much inside. So it’s one of the best places to visit in Nagoya in winter, summer, or whatever season it is.
If you’re here for the first time, I’d like to invite you to follow me on my socials –Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok so you’re updated on our recent food, hotel, and travel reviews!
Toyota Commemorative Museum entrance fee
Surprisingly, Toyota Commemorative Museum tickets aren’t that pricey. I was thinking that since Toyota is a big car brand, you’d have to pay expensive tickets to get to see a wide range of cars, and even vintage cars!, and so much to learn.
But for adults, you just have to pay 1,000 JPY (372.2 PHP or 6.46 USD) to get in. And for kids and seniors, you can pay a discounted price, so you won’t cry over paying this Nagoya museum tickets, even if you’re bringing your whole family with you.

What to do?
What I was expecting at the Toyota Commemorative Museum were everything cars. Little did I know, there’s more to see inside. Let’s not prolong the introduction, and get down to business.
Textile

Upon entering Toyota Commemorative Museum, you’ll be greeted by a glass display of a cotton tree. And it will be followed by a large place where textile is made. Starting from cotton turning to yarn (oh yes! I was excited about this part because which crocheter wouldn’t be happy about seeing how yarns are made, right?).

Seeing all those types of textiles Kiichiro Toyoda used before creating cars has made me all giddy! And then, he also created machines to make various textiles easier.
But apart from that, staff shows you some of the processes of making textiles, like a spinning wheel. There are even some parts where visitors manually facilitate the machines to get them working.

So, don’t be afraid that young kids would get bored, because there’s so much to learn and do. Apart from that, there’s this Technoland, where you and your kids have a blast. (check below)
How the cars started
I’m sure you already know that Toyota Museum would showcase how cars started.

True enough, you’ll learn so much about how Toyota cars started. My son was able to manually open and close a car window. Well, he didn’t experience it at home, because we now have automatic windows, so he was fascinated with the activity.
My son also kept wiping the windshield burning everything he ate that day. To cut it short, my son had a great time inside Toyota Museum.
How the machines make cars
At the next station, we saw cars being made by machines. It was fun to see how technology has upgraded over the years along with the newer car models.

Vintage cars
Speaking of car models, there are so many vintage cars to see that would take you back in time when there wasn’t heavy traffic yet. You’d be surprised at how well kept they are, seeing how beautiful they are and very different from how our cars nowadays look.

Car themed shop
Of course, a tourist spot can’t be complete without a souvenir shop. And at Toyota Commemorative Museum, you’ll see many car-related souvenirs you can take home for yourself or as gift.

There are even limited edition toy cars that are hard to resist! Make sure to bring a lot of self-discipline because you might buy the whole place if you’re not careful!
Technoland – where kids and even adults can play!
For me, one of the best Nagoya museums to visit with kids is Toyota Commemorative Museum because of the fun activity at Technoland. I didn’t know all about it (lack of research haha!) until we go there.
PRO Tip: After buying your tickets, make sure to get a number to secure a slot at Technoland, because they have scheduled entry.

We got a number even though we didn’t know what’s inside. I even thought it was the entrance to the main museum. Five minutes before it was our time to enter, we went out of the main museum to experience Technoland.
And by the name itself, you know that what you’ll experience is out-of-this-world technology. You can drive a mini car inside, open and close windows manually, and use the car wiper by hands.

There was a place to experience the cold wind and so many interactive activities for you and your child to enjoy. Make sure not to spend a lot of time in one activity, since you’re gonna have to leave the place when your time’s up! (We missed a few activities there!)
Musician Robot
Just beside the souvenir shop, there’s a robot that awaits the right time to play his piece. And you’re gonna enjoy the pieces he’s going to play and be amazed at how he does it. Catch him playing the music by checking its schedule.

Toyota Commemorative Museum opening hours: 9:30 AM to 5 PM
Toyota Commemorative Museum reviews the conclusion
It’s always nice to learn new things, and when you go to Toyota Commemorative Museum, you’ll see not only cars, but how Kiichiro Toyoda started everything – from textiles to cars. Your kids would surely enjoy their stay more specifically in Technoland!

What to do in Nagoya for a day
Nagoya might be a boring place to some, but we actually loved the place. The quiet nights and the uncrowded places are where you can feel serenity while enjoying the scenery. Below are some of the best Nagoya places to visit.
LEGOLAND Japan

When we visited LEGOLAND Japan a few years ago, we were surprised at how few the visitors are. Well, maybe it was still pandemic back then, so some people were still afraid to come out and travel, but it was a great decision to visit the place, especially if you love LEGOs.
Since my son was fond of LEGOs, we especially added LEGOLAND Japan to our itinerary, and it was totally worth it! While he couldn’t ride some of the thrilling rides because he was still small, he enjoyed every bit of the place, so it was a win-win!
Check my LEGOLAND Japan review here.
Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium
Another thing you should add to your Nagoya itinerary is the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium. As a traveling mom, I wanted to let my son know more about nature and animals. And by going to aquariums, there’s so much to learn especially for young kids.
Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium houses orcas and belugas – and these creatures have performances, so make sure to watch them when you’re there!
Other places to visit near Nagoya
When you’re in Nagoya but want to side trip to other places, you can visit the tourist spots below to know more about Japan’s culture.
Shirakawa Go

Known as one of UNESCO World Heritage sites, Shirakawa Go is a place to enjoy no matter what season of the year. I like that you can enjoy the beauty of a place no matter what time of the year you visit, of course, you have to consider what to prepare when visiting during winter, with boots and everything.
See the best way to get to Shirakawa Go here.
Takayama

We went back to Takayama again, but this time, we had a lot of time to check out the small details. Since we went there before only for a short time, about 1 hour, we were in a hurry to check out the place, but when we returned, we had a relaxing time.

Best of all, the Old Town was very near the hotel we stayed at: Mercure Hida Takayama. So, if you want to see the stunning folk houses, visit Takayama.
Hida Furukawa

Not very far from Takayama, Hida Furukawa is another place not to be forgotten.
If you’ve watched the animation film “Your Name,” then I’m sure you’ll be happy to make Hida Furukawa a part of your Nagoya itinerary.
The place is very serene, especially since not many visitors know about this place yet. But be sure to locate all the anime locations when you’re there! Learn more here.
