Sotetsu Fresa Inn Sakuradoriguchi – When I was looking for accommodation for our stay at Nagoya, I was looking for the best Nagoya hotel which is not overpriced. And I was lucky to find Sotetsu Fresa Inn Nagoya Sakuradoriguchi.
I was browsing through Klook and found 2 Sotetsu hotels in Nagoya, Japan. One is Shinkansenguchi and the other one, Sakuradoriguchi, the one we booked. I’m not sure why I chose the latter, but I was glad I did because it was very convenient staying there.
Nagoya Hotel near Nagoya Station
One of the few characteristics of the best hotels (Nagoya or wherever city it is) is by checking its distance from the nearest train station. We don’t mind if it’s not the main train station, what matters is that we can reach the station by walking a shorter distance.
And Sotetsu Fresa Inn Sakuradoriguchi has the best of both worlds. In fact, it is very near the Nagoya Station! According to its official website, the hotel is a 4-minute walk from the station. And, the management wasn’t joking when it wrote that statement.
Usually, when we see such instructions from any place in Japan, we would immediately think that it would take a bit longer to reach the place. Based on our experience, the 5-minute walk of the Japanese takes 10 to 15 minutes for us to reach the place.
Ease of Finding
Besides finding a hotel in Nagoya Station, another thing we like to consider when booking a place to stay is how easy it is to locate. The exterior of Sotetsu Fresa Inn Sakuradoriguchi is very prominent, so you won’t have difficulty finding it.
While we were busy checking the area, we used Google Maps to locate our hotel, and due to its name written outside of the building, we didn’t get lost. Moreover, you’ll see a Mister Donut on its ground floor, so you’ll surely not miss it.
If you are looking for a Nagoya best hotel, you should consider Sotetsu Fresa Inn Sakuradoriguchi! It helps that the hotel is easy to find regardless if you are traveling light or bringing the whole house with you.
Self Check-In
Upon reaching the hotel lobby, we found it empty. No receptionist was there to greet us. All we found was a machine that indicated 2 buttons, Check-In and Check-Out.
It meant that they encourage bookers to do self-check-in and check-out. Japan indeed is living in 2050 because we don’t often see a self-check-in and check-out machines everywhere.
Thankfully, it had an English version, so we can study how to check in on our own. But while we trying our best to follow the instructions, a receptionist finally came out of the back room.
He gladly assisted us which made everything easier. And since the check-in time was at 3 PM (we arrived there during lunchtime), they allowed us to leave our luggage so we can have a look around the city.
Sotetsu Fresa Inn Amenities
While thinking of a place to go, we saw Sotetsu Fresa Inn amenities, which you can find near the elevator. We were surprised to find a lot because other more pricey hotels don’t even have that much.
There are basic toiletries needs such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, cotton buds, shavers, shower cap, coffee, and tea. But wait! There’s more. You can also find a handy hair brush, face mask, bath additive, hair tie, and cotton.
A hair wax and aftershave lotion are also there for a better customer experience. There’s even a sponge, hair treatment, cleansing oil, facial cleanser, toner, and sun protection (or sunblock).
Where else can you find such extensive amenities, but at Sotetsu Fresa Inn! We were even amazed by the type of tea they offer – they have green tea and even matcha, although we aren’t sure about its grade.
Our Room
We booked a double room, which was a great deal because the double bed was very comfy and you can enjoy a relaxing tub time after a tiring day of walking around the city.
The room included 2 sets of adult sleepwear, which we happily used during our entire stay. It has a waffle-like design making wearing them not too hot. They were perfect for the weather!
Our room was equipped with a TV, water kettle, and a mini ref. I’m not sure though if there was a cable installed in the TV, as we turned it on to watch some of the local shows without understanding any of the words they said.
The bathroom was a bit cramped so only 1 person can use it at a time. However, what I liked about it is that the tap water was potable, which meant it was safe to drink.
So, we don’t have to worry about running out of safe drinking water, especially after a long day outside. We don’t even have to buy bottled water to quench our thirst!
There are 3 bottles of liquid soap found in the bathtub so you don’t have to carry them in your luggage if you plan to stay at the Sotetsu Hotel. A big bottle of shampoo, body wash, and conditioner is all for you to use during your stay.
There’s also a foaming hand soap on the sink, so they lessen the wastage of soap bars. It’s these little things that make you feel like coming back to Japan again, no matter how many times I’ve been to it.
An air purifier, working also as a humidifier, was also present in our room. It’s to make sure contaminants are out of the way, so you can safely relax and sleep at night without worrying about getting sick.
Just next to the door, you’ll find a shoehorn and shoe polisher cloth to help you with your shoes. So, if you brought leather shoes, you can use the polisher to ensure that you’re looking your best when you attend a meeting or party.
The only problem we found was the very narrow hallway of our room. It made packing and unpacking a bit hard because of the very small space left once you put the luggage down. Regardless, it won’t stop us from going back to Sotetsu Fresa Inn Sakuradoriguchi in the future.
Laundry, Ice and Vendo Machines, and Microwave
On the second floor, you’ll find a room just beside the elevator to help make your stay easier. You’ll find a coin laundry (which we used very often to clean our dirty clothes), and an ice machine so you can have cold drinks whenever you want.
You can use coins or IC cards to pay for the laundry. The coin laundry automatically refills detergent so you don’t have to buy them. It also includes a dryer so you can wear your clothes when you get them from the washing machine.
There are even vendo machines for some soda or alcoholic beverages if you wish to drink without running out in the middle of the night. And best of all, there’s a microwave oven so we can reheat our toddler’s food for the many times he wanted to have a snack before hitting the sack.
Smoking Area
There’s a smoking area on the 1st floor, so you have a place to go whenever you feel the need to do so.
Breakfast at Mister Donut
If you booked the room with breakfast, you’ll be having either a donut, a pie, and a drink, or a hotdog sandwich with a drink. We usually don’t book rooms with breakfast because we want to maximize the day.
But if you want a slow day, it’s great to have breakfast included in your booking. However, if you don’t want the choices on the menu, you can always get a quick fix at the nearby convenience store.
