Novotel CBD Melbourne, South Wharf – Seven years ago, we stayed at Pan Pacific Melbourne, and now that we’re back, we wanted to try a different hotel. This time, we tried Novotel South Wharf.
Actually, Novotel Hotel Melbourne is just near Pan Pacific Hotel, so, if you’re thinking about whether to book which, you can check this Novotel review first!

Earlier this year, we also tried Novotel Citygate, located in Hong Kong, and please do check my review out as well if you’re planning your Hong Kong itinerary.

Melbourne hotels near free tram zone
One of the things I like about Melbourne is because it has a free tram zone, where you can ride the trams without paying a single cent. The best part about this is that you can get to the famous Melbourne tourist spots by just going around the area hopping on and off the free tram.
After leaving Novotel Australia Melbourne, you’re just going to walk for a few minutes, and you’ll soon reach a free tram zone station. Just follow the Yarra River and you’ll never get lost.
Amenities
Novotel Melbourne South Wharf is a 4-star hotel that has superb service. When we got to the lobby, we were immediately given our room card key. So we went up and left our luggage.
Spacious room

We’re used to small space rooms since we frequent Japan, so when we entered our room here at Novotel Melbourne, we found it quite spacious.
There were 2 twin beds and we fit perfectly. The space around isn’t that cramped, so it’s easy to pack and unpack. Although we didn’t need that much space since we’re almost always outside, and just back here at the hotel to sleep.
Nice window view

My favorite part here at Novotel Hotel Melbourne is the stunning view from the window. So I chose to sleep on the bed nearest to the window so I could just slide open the curtains and be in awe of the mesmerizing city view!
Imagine waking up seeing the different sized buildings, with the ferris wheel, the road, the trees, and everything else in between. If only I could have that view outside our bedroom, then that would be awesome!

Near DFO
Another thing to take note of is the closeness of Novotel CBD Melbourne to DFO. All you have to do is to cross the road and you’re already at the entrance of the shopping factory outlet. How cool is that?!
Be there at the opening so you don’t have to rush into getting the discounted goodies you can buy for your family, friends, and even for yourself when you stay here at Novotel!
Walking distance to the free tram zone
Did I mention how nice it was that Melbourne has a free tram zone that could get you across Melbourne’s tourist attractions?
And just a few minutes of walking, you can ride the free tram, and no need to pay anything because they’re really (really!!) free!
We even hoped that Sydney and Brisbane had a free tram zone like Melbourne!
Free kiddie playground
After checking in the lobby, you’ll find a tiny kiddie playground where young kids can spend some time while the adults have a drink or two beside the bar. So, if you’re bringing kids along, they can stay there – there weren’t any kid there during our stay.
Simple breakfast
If you’re short on time, but still want to grab something filling, you should get a hearty breakfast here at Novotel Melbourne. You can go there and eat quickly before a meeting, or you can also stay longer and just relax while enjoying the hearty dishes. I like that the choices aren’t that many so you don’t get overwhelmed about which one to eat first.

Novotel Melbourne reviews conclusion
You may find many other Melbourne hotels cheaper than Novotel Melbourne South Wharf, but sometimes, what matters is the quality that you get. And here, apart from the nice rooms you can have, it’s just a few steps away from DFO, so if you love shopping, then this could be the sign for you to choose Novotel!

More Australia reviews (Queensland to be specific)
Before moving to Melbourne, we spent a week at Queensland, and it’s where we found many different places that are still unknown to many. So I did my best to make sure not to leave out any important thing about the places we visited there. Let’s go!
Brisbane City

The first city we visited was Brisbane City – and it’s where we found so many Bluey spots! Are you a fan too? Make sure to check out the places we saw here.
Gold Coast

On the second day, we went to Gold Coast and lo and behold, we passed by so many theme parks, you literally can’t go into them all at once! There’s Warner Bros Movie World, Dream World, Sea World, and so much more!
Learn more about my Gold Coast itinerary here.
Sunshine Coast

There’s so many interesting things in Sunshine Coast that you ought to see. Beaches, mountains, lookouts – you probably get the hint. If you love nature, then make sure to add Sunshine Coast to your itinerary!
Shorncliffe and Scarborough

Find the best fish and chips when you visit Scarborough. My local friend highly recommends Morgan’s Fish and Chips, and they definitely didn’t let us leave without trying it out! Want to know what we did there? Check here.
