Mt. Moiwa Ropeway – I thought that Mt. Moiwa Ropeway is one of hyped Sapporo attractions, but turns out, we had a lot of fun in there, and even when going there! We were caught off-guard about what we’d have to go through, but it actually added to the fun!

Mt. Moiwa hike
We weren’t planning on hiking when we added Mt. Moiwa to our Sapporo itinerary. However, we were surprised by a lot of walking on our way there. And I hope that I counted the number of steps we walked.
It was 3:30 PM when we started finding the way from Sapporo to Mt. Moiwa, because we went to other places in the morning! (More about that in the next few posts, so stay tuned and follow me in my socials – Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok)
Susukino to Mt. Moiwa
The easiest way to get to Mt. Moiwa is by riding the streetcar to get to Ropeway Iriguchi. And since we were already in Susukino that time, we didn’t have to travel far. Go for the Inner loop of the streetcar because that will bring you to where you were headed.

We almost rode the incorrect streetcar, thankfully, we asked the staff first before riding!
There were lots of cars, so you’re sure to reach Mt. Moiwa in no time. After 25 minutes, which costs 200 JPY (77.28 PHP or 1.35 USD), we followed the signs on the boards posted in buildings.
So, it’s not really that hard to locate Sapporo Mt. Moiwa. However, what we didn’t know was that we’re in for a surprise hike!
Mt. Moiwa shuttle bus

Upon reaching Mt. Moiwa shuttle bus stop at 4 PM, we checked the schedule so that we know how long we’ll wait. But to our surprise, the notice wrote that shuttle buses operate after 5:15 PM on weekdays. And it was a Monday, so…..
We wrestled whether we should book a cab or start walking..

And yeah, you guessed it right, we chose walking over spending a fortune on a taxi.. Hmm. Not so bad, because we can burn more calories!
Although the notice said it’s only a 10-minute walk to reach the venue, issa prank..

We got there after 15 minutes of walking, not that bad though. Of course, since we had some breaks in between, so maybe that’s why we didn’t get there by the time they said.

Thankfully, it was still winter, so we didn’t sweat that bad. Else, we could’ve surrendered and just went back home crying.
Mt. Moiwa winter

It was 4:30 PM when we arrived, so we immediately went inside to pay for our Mt. Moiwa entrance fee. (But you can get them at a discounted price here! Make sure to use Klook code HAPPIKLOOK to get discount before checking out!)

It wasn’t crowded at the Mt. Moiwa Ropeway during that time. Probably because it wasn’t that dark yet, and people were still at work. Much later, people started filling the place.

Once we reached the Mt. Moiwa observation deck, we went out, and we even have to keep ourselves from being blown away by the strong wind. Our son was almost blown away and it was too funny!!

The view from the top is very very nice. When we finally saw the iconic Bell of Happiness, my emotions from the movie Kita Kita came rushing back.

There’s a map where you can see tourist attractions in Sapporo, Hokkaido. So you can actually locate them from the view.

When we were done and were getting cold, we decided to call it a day, and leave. At 6 PM, we rode the cable car going down and we saw some foot prints on the snow, which meant people were hiking in that place.
