White chocolate Japan cookies

I never thought I’d be able to visit a chocolate factory in Sapporo, simply because I’m not really into sweets. Yes, I do eat sweets, but I’m not a die-hard fan of candies, cakes, and whatnot.

On the contrary, when I learned I could include Shiroi Koibito Factory in my Sapporo itinerary, I got excited!

Because I can finally see how the yummy Japan white chocolate biscuit is made. But I was surprised about what was inside – because apart from the factory, there’s also a theme park where you can take lots of Instagrammable photos!

Shiroi Koibito Park entrance fee

Don’t expect to enter Shiroi Koibito Park for free, but I was surprised to find it to be affordable too! You can buy online or through the ticketing office upon arrival.

For each adult, the price you have to pay for Shiroi Koibito Park tickets is only 800 JPY (310.47 PHP or 5.43 USD), while children 4 to 15 years old only pay half the price. Any younger than that, kids can get to enter for FREE!

PRO Tip: Travel with a group and get discounts on your chocolate factory entrance fee!

What to do in Shiroi Koibito Park

Don’t think you’ll get bored inside Shiroi Koibito Park into thinking that all you’ll do is watch how the famous cookie is made. You’ll be surprised at how much you can do inside!

Shiroi Koibito Park winter

We went to Sapporo in mid February, and it was still very cold even though snowfall happens only every now and then. Of course, we still have to be ready and brought winter essentials during our visit to protect us from the cold.

Did a quick tour at Sapporo Beer Museum!

In the morning, we went to the Sapporo Beer Museum and did a quick tour of the area. When we’re done, we left immediately to go to Shiroi Koibito Park. It was half past 2 PM when we rode the train heading for Miyanosawa station. (Check below to know how to get to Shiroi Koibito Park from Sapporo)

You’ll surely not get lost.

At 3 PM,we arrived outside Hokkaido Shiroi Koibito Factory. You’ll know you’ve arrived because you’ll see huge name on top of the building.

Lovely view at night!

After entering, we immediately saw the logo displayed outside, and you can take photos for memories. It was quite confusing where to enter first, because you’ll see many buildings with different entrances, thankfully, the staff was kind enough to show us where to buy tickets.

When we got inside, I was surprised to find there weren’t many people. In the ticketing booth, you can also book sweets-making courses. You can also join a chocolate tasting lesson – at 500 JPY (193.14 PHP or 3.38 USD) per person.

The staff handed factory map and some brochures, and, oh! We also got free Shiroi Koibito cookies! Yeay!

Chocotopia Factory

The first spot we went to was the Chocotopia. It’s where you can watch the 4 revolutionary chocolate making inventions. We didn’t stay long and left almost immediately, maybe because we didn’t find anyone in there? Or that it didn’t seem interesting for us, but you might want to watch the show.

On the next part, we were greeted with so many displays of classic cups and tea set – and you’ll be afraid to get near them because they’re too fragile, and cost a fortune!

Too fragile! But, oh so lovely!

Moving on, we went to the production line area, where you can see through inside the Hokkaido chocolate factory!

What happens inside Shiroi Koibito factory!

Watching how sanitized the people are inside reassures you that your cookies are crafted with care and love. On the walls, you’ll find images about how Shiroi Koibito biscuits come to life. The creators were surely meticulous about how the cookies should be made – they even studied its perfect size!

After that eye-opening tour, the next section is where you can have snacks and take lots of photoshoots.

You can see children participating in the sweets-making room – the large glass windows show you what’s happening inside.

Of course, we couldn’t leave the place without ordering their famous soft serve ice cream!

But they also have other savory dishes and desserts if you don’t want the ice cream.

Yummy!

Going down the stairs, you soon find yourself shopping for chocolates and so many good things – which are great for giveaways to friends and families. There are also souvenirs and keepsakes you can buy for yourself!

After spending about 2 hours inside, it was almost 5 PM and we saw that the skies will soon be darkening. So we went out to check some more! Because the lights will soon turn on and the place will be very pretty!

How to go to Shiroi Koibito from Sapporo

The best way to get to Shiroi Koibito Park from Sapporo is by train.

And we didn’t have problems locating the chocolate factory (Hokkaido). Although there was a bit of a walk, we enjoyed the cool weather (since we went there in February), so be ready if you go there on hotter days.

Shiroi Koibito Park reviews conclusion

Among the many Sapporo tourist spots in winter, the Shiroi Koibito Park is one of the most memorable places to visit. I must say that the park outside had that enchanting vibe – especially after the lights started.

Sapporo Chocolate Factory

I learned there’s another chocolate factory Sapporo can boast about. Apart from Shiroi Koibito, another famous chocolate brand is Royce, and sadly, we weren’t able to add it to our things to do in Sapporo. I’ll make sure to go there in the future!

When you hear the word Royce, I’m sure you’ll be reminded of the yummy chocolate bar, but you might not know it was made in Hokkaido. So they decided to open Royce Cacao and Chocolate Town to make everyone know more about Royce.
