Where to stay in Hong Kong
The best area to stay in Hong Kong for first timers is very hard to identify. Because it all boils down to what you want to do. So, if you want to know where to stay, then get your notes and choose among these great places!
Tsim Sha Tsui
You won’t have a hard time looking for the best hotel in Hong Kong near shopping in Tsim Sha Tsui. And that’s what this post is all about – a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel where you can enjoy great amenities as well!
Apart from that, Victoria Harbour is very near, so you can visit the Avenue of Stars and K11 Musea if you haven’t yet. And if you have not yet taken pictures with the Clock Tower and watched the Symphony of Lights, then this is the best place for you to stay!
Mongkok
Need I say more? Mongkok is the place to be if you want to go back and forth to the street markets. Ladies Market and Fa Yuen Street (sneaker haven!) are located there, and make sure to bring your shopping bag because I’m sure you’ll find lots of goodies here!
Wan Chai
Lee Tung Avenue, Tai Yuen Street, and Golden Bauhinia Square – if these words ring a bell, then you must be familiar with Wan Chai as well! Visit these places with ease when you stay here!
Central
My favorite place in Central is the longest outdoor escalator – Central Mid Levels Escalator! Apart from the relaxing ride, you can also visit Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens and ride the Peak Tram if you choose to stay in Central.
Lantau Island
The last hotel we stayed at in Hong Kong is located in Lantau Island (make sure to follow me on my socials so you can see my review of Novotel Citygate). And if you have plans of visiting Citygate Outlet, Ngong Ping Village and Hong Kong Disneyland, then you should consider staying in Lantau Island!
Why choose Hotel Madera Hong Kong?
A cheap hotel in Hong Kong for family is what Hotel Madera Jordan is for. Apart from the nice interiors, we like that it’s very close to the tourist spots, so you can get there while the other people are still traveling.
Below are some of the reasons why you should choose Hotel Madera Hong Kong.

Complete amenities
Hong Kong has a rule that they wouldn’t be giving out a lot of toiletries to save Mother Earth. So, if you don’t want to pay for them, make sure you bring toothbrushes, toothpastes, and comb. But Hotel Madera Hong Kong is kind enough to give out a set on your first night, so you don’t have to worry about it.

I don’t know how long they would provide them, though. So better hurry, and book it before they stop giving the toiletries for free!
Nearby washing machine

It’s not usual for Hong Kong hotels to have washing machines inside, so I was glad to find a nearby coin-operated washing machine just outside this affordable Hong Kong accommodation. They also have detergents you can buy for HKD 5 (38.39 PHP) each.
Easy to go to Tsim Sha Tsui
Just a few minutes’ walk from Hotel Madera Hong Kong, you can already reach the famous Victoria Harbour. And from there, there are so many things you can do. You can ride the ferry to enjoy the scenic view, shop and dine at K11 Musea, and take lots of Instagrammable photos everywhere!

Apart from that, the walk to TST is already a shopping district, which will catch your attention. So, make sure to bring your shopping bags so you can easily carry your shopped goods on your shoulders!
A private jacuzzi
And when you’re all tired from all the shopping and walking, you just want to take a rest, and relax – voila, you have a personal jacuzzi, just press the red button and you’re all set! Bring your favorite bubble bath or bath salts and I’m sure you’re gonna have that restful night!

A spacious room
The room we got here at Hotel Madera Hong Kong is quite spacious, considering the price we paid isn’t that high. And it had 2 beds (each bed can fit up to 1 adult and 1 young child), and there’s a lot of room on the floor for packing your luggages.

Penthouse with a stunning view
But if you still have a lot of energy, then you can go up to the penthouse and enjoy the city view!
Yes!
You don’t have to pay for anything, and you can even buy a drink or two if you want. I especially enjoyed this part, but since I was too tired, I just took a video and photos, so you know what to expect.

Rooftop bar
Before you can reach the penthouse, there’s a bar you need to pass through. And you can buy your drinks there, so you can enjoy the view more. It was chilly when we visited (in February), but not sure if it would be hot here in summer.

Nonetheless, it’s still night, so I believe this place is a great way to unwind!
Freebies

Raise your hand if you love freebies!
I’m sure you want a Coca-Cola and a pack of Lay’s potato chips to cap off the night while watching your favorite show. Of course, you get only one set for the time of your stay – even if you stay for 3 nights or more.

Other Hong Kong hotels to check
We haven’t been to other Hong Kong hotels, but we’ve been to the 2 hotels below more than once already! So, you might want to check them out as well!
Disneyland Hotels

The first Hong Kong Disneyland hotel we stayed at is the Explorer’s Lodge and we certainly loved it! For me, it’s best to get this hotel if you have a son, instead of getting the princess-themed Disneyland Hotel.
And just this year, we tried to check Hollywood Hotel, and it’s also a great choice if you want a manly-themed room. Inside the room, everything is movie-themed and it was also so great! Watch out for my Hollywood Hotel review soon!

Do take note that there are no breakfast is included in the rooms we booked – and you can get them if you want! But since, we want to maximize the stay at the Disneyland Park, so we just bring snacks and eat inside using our dining vouchers — this included a snack like ice cream or popcorn!
Regal Riverside Hotel

A Hong Kong hotel we frequent is the Regal Riverside Hotel. What we love about it is its affordable rate, and it even included a simple Hong Kong breakfast buffet. And as the name suggests, it’s beside a river – and you can see the river from the window.
