Zhu Ba Jie Restaurant: First Time To Try, but Definitely Not the Last

Zhu Ba Jie Restaurant – Seeing vloggers going to Zhu Ba Jie Restaurant may not mean it serves authentic Korean food. So we had to see for ourselves whether it lives up to the hype or whether it’s just overrated.

When watching kdramas, you just can’t help but drool over the food the casts eat. Pork BBQ grill, tteokbokki, ramyeon, and even soju, are all very tempting to eat whenever I’m binge watching my favorite Korean actors and actresses.

However, sometimes, there are other Korean dishes that the shows don’t showcase. And one of them is gamjatang. More commonly known as Korean pork stew, the spicy gamjatang recipe is one you shouldn’t miss if you want that fall-off-the-bone meat with a hearty and savory soup.

As suggested by my sister in law, we decided to celebrate Mother’s Day at Zhu Ba Jie Korean Restaurant in Malate. Malate Korean town is famous among Koreans as there are many authentic Korean restaurants and even groceries for their quick Korean dish fix.

So, what did we order during our visit to Zhu Ba Jie Makati? Continue reading to find out!

Zhu Ba Jie price menu

If you’re like me, who loves watching kdramas, it might be easy for you to understand Korean food terms without a translator. Otherwise, you’ll need to ask someone to explain each dish one by one.

Thankfully, the Zhu Ba Jie Restaurant menu explains the most ordered dishes, so you don’t have to be afraid to check them out on your own. Check out the food we ordered below so you have an idea what we enjoyed during our visit.

Gamjatang

Korean stew pork bone recipe’s history started way way back in the past in Incheon when laborers wanted to have a hearty dish that’s enjoyed during dinner after a long day of work. And now, we can enjoy the dish anytime we want.

So how to eat gamjatang effectively?

It’s pretty simple. All you have to do is to have clean hands, and get the piping hot pork ribs from your bowl, and bite on it then pull the meat from its bone. According to my sister in law, the ribs they had previously had more tender meat than this time.

But for me, the meat wasn’t that tough that night, and I enjoyed the dish fairly well.

The red hot soup was seasoned perfectly, and you can ask for FREE refills if you love them! Best of all, you can even have them for takeout if you have leftovers.

Iberico

A visit to a Korean restaurant in Manila couldn’t be complete without ordering BBQ grill meat. So, we tried the 3 types of Iberico available on Zhu Ba Jie menu, since the moksal was out of stock.

And yes, we certainly love all of them! My son was very happy with the tender meat (all of them are) paired with plain rice.

Egg Bomb

Steamed egg is one savory custard dish that’s hard to miss when you’re dining at a Korean grill restaurant. But you know what’s even better? Egg plus a dollop of cheese! Any cheese lover surely wouldn’t get enough of Zhu Ba Jie’s egg bomb!

Bokkeumbap (Fried Rice)

Savory gamjatang ingredients work perfectly well with the Bokkeumbap – kimchi fried rice. Add a piece of ribs and golden mushroom on top of your fried rice, pour the soup, and enjoy the blasting taste in each bite.

I don’t usually eat rice, but this fried rice is certainly a must-try!

Free flowing ice cream

At the end of the meal, you can enjoy unlimited ice cream – you can make them yourself at the ice cream bar.

There are also toppings of your choice and you can choose between putting your ice cream on a cone or a cup.

Zhu Ba Jie review conclusion

After trying Zhu Ba Jie Makati menu, I found that it’s at par with the other Malate Korean BBQ restaurants we tried. And even though it’s not an unlimited BBQ resto, I’m sure you’ll go home feeling full and want to come back again.

The only problem about this Zhu Ba Jie branch is that there are only 2 parking slots for customers, so you might need to find a place to park somewhere else. Otherwise, you have to pay 150 PHP for the parking service in front of the Korean restaurant.

Did you drool over my Zhu Ba Jie photos? Which one are you likely to try? Let me know in the comments!

Other authentic Korean restaurants in Manila you should try too!

I always thought that eating unlimited Korean BBQ is the best. But sometimes, it’e better to enjoy authentic Korean restaurant Manila has to offer. If you love Korean dishes without overfilling yourself, better to try out a la carte Korean dishes, because I assure you that you’ll fall in love with the cuisine as much as we do.

Below are some Korean restaurants you should check out too!

Goryeo Korean Dining

If it isn’t a bit of a drive to Okada Manila, we would’ve frequent Goryeo Korean Dining for its superb quality food. We love how big the servings are and how good the food is at Goryeo. However, you have to remember to reserve seats at least a day in advance to secure a slot if you wish to eat there.

Chung Dam Restaurant

When looking for authentic Korean restaurant, Malate should be the number one on your list because it’s the Korean Town in Manila. In there, you’ll find many Korean restaurants and possibly get confused about where to dine.

But what I highly recommend is Chung Dam Restaurant, because of the delish food and great ambiance, not to mention having a room to yourselves. We always love the tender meat in sets that comes with a complete banchan – and you can ask for refills too!
