Super Sam, QC – I called Super Sam Scout Tobias for a reservation because we planned to try it out for dinner. However, when we arrived there, our seats were already taken!
Chinabank Discount Promotion
It was my birthday the other day, so we decided to have dinner out.
We’ve seen Super Sam BGC branch some time ago when we went to Taguig. But since hubby saw Chinabank credit card holders get to eat with 50% off, we decided to give it a try.
For a minimum food purchase of PHP 3,000 (USD 53.42), you only need to pay half of the amount. The maximum discount is up to PHP 3,000 only.
Prime Mastercard cardholders can get to enjoy the discount until the end of August 2023. However, the promo is extended until October 31, 2023, for Wealth, Word, Platinum, Cash Rewards, and Freedom Mastercard cardholders.
Do take note that the promo is only valid from Mondays thru Thursdays for Super Sam Scout Tobias branch. While Super Sam BGC diners can avail of the promo from Sundays thru Wednesdays.
Super Sam Menu Price Update
Super Sam’s menu can be easily seen on its Facebook profile. But I found there were some changes in the current one posted. So, if you’re planning to try it out, better check out the updated ones below.
Some have increased in price, while others have a few changes to the existing menu. For one, the Grilled Porkchop is now only available in 1 piece.
Some of the menu now has a platter size, including Angus Salpicao, Angus Bistek, Bagnet Binagoongan, Bagnet Kare-Kare, Bagnet Sinigang, and Dobo Pork Belly.
The Crispy Pata’s price has now increased to PHP 1099 (USD 19.55), while the Freshly Brewed Iced Tea is currently priced at PHP 119 (USD 2.12).
Reservation Gone Wrong
I called earlier the other day to have our seats reserved so that when we arrive, we won’t have to wait in line to be seated.
I told the lady on the phone to save our seats for 7:30 PM, however, due to slightly heavy traffic, we arrived at 7:40 PM. When we entered Super Sam, we told the server of our reservation, and she said she thought we weren’t arriving, so she gave our seats to someone else!
BUT! Thankfully, there is an empty table that they just had to clean first for us.
However, I was still disappointed that they gave away our seats because we arrived there within the 15-minute grace period. Had we arrived a little later, I’d have understood if they gave our seats away for someone else.
Although there was some misunderstanding, we can’t deny that the food Super Sam offers is one you’d be willing to try.
What We Ordered
Before arriving, we already checked Super Sam Restaurant menu so we had an idea of what they are offering. However, since there was a change on the menu, we had to have an additional order for us to meet the spending requirements for the promo.
After placing our orders, we waiting not too long for them to arrive.
Prosciutto Caesar Salad came first. We were surprised by the big serving of salad we got for the price of PHP 429 (USD 7.63). It had the usual romaine lettuce, croutons, parmesan cheese, and Caesar dressing just like any Caesar salad does.
However, what separates it from the rest is the prosciutto, half-cooked egg, and alfalfa sprouts that add more flavor to the dish.
It’s one of the best Caesar salads we’ve ever tried! Hubby especially loved the Caesar dressing of the salad. So, if you fancy salads, like us, you should try it!
Not long after the salad arrived, the Fresh Pumpkin Soup arrived. Priced at PHP 309 (USD 5.50), the solo soup bowl is definitely not for sharing. With every sip of the pumpkin soup, you’ll know that it’s indeed freshly made!
The bowl is topped with croutons, bacon bits, and drizzles of heavy cream. While it’s not worth the original price, it’s worth a try now that its price is halved.
The big plate of Grilled Pork Chop is the next one we devoured. Super Sam did great when it changed the serving size of the porkchop to 1 piece only because that one piece will make sure you are walking out with a full stomach.
A thick slice of bone-in porkchop will be served to you along with a cup of mashed potato. The plate also includes caramelized apples and a few sticks of sauteed asparagus.
What’s fascinating about Super Sam Grilled Pork Chop is that even though the meat was thick, it was perfectly cooked. Best of all, the meat was not tough, indicating that the porkchop was not overcooked.
Quattro Formaggi finally arrived after waiting for a bit, and it “wowed” our son literally!
And while it’s a bit pricier than other pizzas we’ve tried, its price of PHP 729 (USD 12.97) won’t stop us from ordering the same one again in the future.
Each slice of pizza was oozing with cheese and it had the perfect saltiness you’d find in a cheese pizza. The crust wasn’t that thick so it was not so filling that you can eat 2 or 3 slices in one seating.
Along with the Quattro Formaggi came Sam’s Crispy Chicken Bucket of 6. And the large pieces of crispy fried chicken will surely delight chicken lovers!
We weren’t able to finish them all so we had to take them out.
Hubby also tried the Freshly Brewed Iced Tea and we can assure you that the glass of freshly brewed iced tea is true to its name!
I loved how sexy and tall Super Sam’s glasses are for their drinks. For non-alcoholic drinkers, this drink is a must-try!
For dessert, we ordered one of Super Sam’s best-seller cakes, Ube Oreo Cake.
A big cake slice arrived and we loved how the cake wasn’t too sweet. What’s making Ube Oreo Cake sweet is its Oreo and sweet vanilla icing topping.
And for PHP 229 (USD 4.07), it’s something to satisfy your not-too-sweet cravings!
We also ordered Iced Matcha Latte for takeout.
However, I think that the matcha latte is great for those who like matcha but doesn’t like bitter ones. It was a bit lacking in matcha flavor (probably because we like the bitter taste of pure matcha).
Super Sam Branches
Currently, you’ll find 3 Super Sam branches – Scout Tobias QC, BGC Taguig, and Greenhills San Juan. If you plan to go there, better to have a reservation, and make sure to be there on time!
Super Sam Review Conclusion
Sometimes we’re scared to try new dishes from new restaurants. Thankfully, new and even old restaurants offer promos every now and then.
It’s worth noting that although we experienced a mishap at Super Sam, we still highly recommend it due to the quality of the food. I believe that such experience is just one of the very few, so it’s best to give them a second chance.
