After taking a bath last night, I saw some scars and blemishes on some parts of my body. I see them almost everyday and I want them to go away magically. Because I don’t even know where they came from. I don’t even remember getting scrathes or hurting myself there. Maybe I got it during the times when I felt itchy on that part or I don’t really know.
No wonder largely, the market is comprised by beauty products and cosmetic surgeries and processes. From different countries around the world, came lots of different brands and beauty lotions and powders and the like, and some of them foreign to us. And since people are obsessed with looking good and transforming themselves, companies offering a wide range of whitening creams to those harmful injectables (though it still depends on how the body would react-no one is too sure), are still earning quite a lot of money, even if the effects is not too visible. Some would only rely on advertisements and their favorite actors and actresses who claim to have been transformed by the product. Unknowingly, these famous people were already too beautiful to wait for the effects to come out.
While it is not bad to beautify ourselves, changing the whole you is not really the best way. Since not only it enriches the already rich companies, but it is not what God wants us to be.
Our physical body was only lent to us to live a limited amount of time. And God was happy when He formed each one us. So no matter how imperfect we think we are, we will still be beautiful in God’s eyes, whether we have taken a bath or not.
Corinthians 6:19-20 : 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
What really does God want us to do?
To take care of our bodies to be able to do what pleases Him. We should love our body just as Christ has loved the church. That’s what matters the most. And we should always remember that all flaws are important reminder to us that we will never be perfect people. And that God will forever love us despite that. 🙂
