Rest Day

It’s Friday and it’s the last day of our work. Not everyone in our country gets to enjoy their weekends because most of them still have to report to work on Saturdays. But since we work under an international company, we are more privileged to rejoice on 16:59 of Fridays knowing that in  a matter of 60 seconds, we are free as high school students-either to go home and lazy around, or have a night out with friends. However, some of my friends would work overtimes on Sundays and even on Holidays. They could be one reason why workaholic has been added to our dictionaries. Haha. But kidding aside, this is not the right way of doing things. Because even the machines and computers and all other technologies need their breaks, then more so our bodies – the body that God had created in the likeness of His own.

In Genesis 2:2 – “By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.”

Even God took a rest on the seventh day, meaning, His children should too, even at least once a week. Because our body is given by our Father, to feed and take care of. And to make sure to love our ownself. Therefore, when tired, we should take breaks — walk a little, take a nap, smell some fresh flowers, drink a cup of hot coffee or tea, eat a piece of fruit, read your favorite book, or better yet, read the Bible. This way, we can regenerate what is lost, and gain back our energy to give our very best to fulfill the life that God wants us to do.
