Only 4 days left before a new year will start again. And as usual, I know that there are a lot of folks out there who are posting “New year, new me” slogan. It’s like Facebook has created a contest on the best newer version of themselves to post and share with everyone, and whoever gets the most likes, wins.
I don’t mean to be pessimistic about new year resolutions. Because there are times that I also think of what’s best to change into at the start of each year. And what better way to start another year, right?
One positive thing about starting a new year with a “new me” is by eating healthier after all the festivities. Since the last month of the year is usually cooler than the first eleven, and usually we are fully booked not only on weekends but even on weekdays we get to celebrate the season with our loved ones, we also get to slack off our usual routine (I am referring to those who have an active lifestyle). Though for me, I get more excited to workout as it is the time when not much sweat comes out, and it is not as irritating as to how it is during summers. Is it just me? Since my friend once told me that she gets more energetic if it is hot outside as sweat easily comes out with only few movements.
As the new year starts, I don’t have a list yet on how to become a better person. But what we should take note is that, change in us should not only happen on the first of January, but we should make it a habit to change for the better version of ourselves whole year round. I must admit that changing myself is hard, so I understand if you do it slowly, and with a little help from God. Basically, everything that’s hard, we may look up to God, seek His help, and do what needs to be done. You might be surprised that one day, the you of yesterday is a whole lot different than who you are right now. 🙂
