Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin: Best Deal for Your Money

Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin – One of hotels near Tenjin station (Fukuoka), walking distance from Tenjin shopping area, and many yatai stalls around – what more reason do you need to book that stay at Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin

Fukuoka is one of the places to visit if you’re looking for something unique and different. When visiting Japan for the first time, you wouldn’t think about going to Fukuoka, but once you know how cool the prefecture is, you know you’ll be back again in no time.

Just like us, who never knew we’d find solace in Fukuoka, we’re now craving about knowing more about the culture it has. More so if you want to visit other cities, that’s just a train ride away from its center, Hakata.

So although we chose to stay at Tenjin, we were able to go to other places too! More about it in future posts. So make sure to stay on the loop by following me on my socials – Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok so you’re updated on our recent food, hotel, and travel reviews!

Where to stay in Fukuoka: Tenjin or Hakata?

If you ask me, “Where to stay in Fukuoka for first timers? Tenjin vs Hakata?”

I’ll answer you with a question, “What do you want to include in your Fukuoka itinerary (5 days or more)?”

Tenjin is a place where you can go shopping, nightlife, or dining.

Hakata, on the other hand, is a place you should stay if you want to travel to many different places outside of Fukuoka, because it’s the center, and where you can easily access lots of places.

Don’t worry about the distance between the 2 stations, because they are just a 5-minute train ride! So, if you choose one over the other, you’ll just have to add 5 minutes to your Fukuoka itinerary.

Fukuoka Airport to Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin

richmond hotel fukuoka tenjin

I’m surprised that the travel from Fukuoka Airport to the city proper is only 15 minutes. Other more famous cities like Tokyo and Osaka are at least an hour and a half from the Narita Airport. So the travel from Fukuoka Airport to the city is something new to us.

It’s a plus that you have to travel a short distance to and from the airport.

For one, you save time so you can start your journey soon after landing. And then, on your last day, you can still shop or eat your favorite food before leaving for home.

Now, ain’t that nice?

So, if you haven’t included Fukuoka as part of your Japan travel itinerary, then, you should now!

Getting to Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin is just 17 minutes from Fukuoka Airport. Just ride the Airport Line, and in about 17 minutes, you’ll arrive at Tenjin Station. From there, it’s just a 5-minute walk, and you’re already outside the hotel.

Cheap hotel in Fukuoka

Based on research, I found that Fukuoka hotels are a little bit cheaper than when in Tokyo or Osaka. You’ll easily find an affordable hotel in Fukuoka without worrying about dragging your heavy luggage around to reach your area of stay.

True enough, we found Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin, and immediately booked it on our travel dates.

Spacious lobby of Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin.

We arrived at Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin at about 5 PM from Fukuoka Airport. A short stroll from Tenjin station, the hotel was very neat. Hubby went to the reception to check in and we waited.

Water for anyone thirsty.

They had a water dispenser so we quenched our thirst after a tiring flight. And just like most Japan hotels, Richmond Hotel also has amenities in the lobby, where you just have to get what you need.

Get whatever you need during your stay!

From coffee, teas, facial care, and the usual amenities you might need, Richmond Hotel has them all. There’s even hair ties, bath salts, and cutleries if you’re going to eat in your room.

But the best part?

My son also got his set of toiletries and bath towels which the staff gave to him. And it made him more excited about staying in their hotel. There’s a kiddie toothbrush and toothpaste, a pair of slippers, and a bath sponge. I hope that soon, other hotels would also have special treatment for kids!

Cute toiletries for your child!

Once we got our keys, we went up to take a little rest so we could walk around the area before the sky turns dark.

The double room is good for couples who want a relaxing night.

We got 2 queen beds and the space wasn’t as cramped as most hotels in Japan do. The 27 sq meters room was very spacious for us 3, and the price was worth every penny.

You’re not dreaming! The room is really very spacious!

But another reason we chose Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin over the other hotels in Fukuoka was that it has a laundromat. It’s always nice to be able to wash clothes so you have a lighter baggage – giving more room for cute stuff.

Washing machines with dryer found on the 5th floor.

And you don’t even have to buy detergent because once you’ve put your clothes in and inserted coins, the washing machine automatically dispenses detergent. There’s also a built-in dryer so you can just wait in your room while the laundry machine does it’s job.

Very easy to follow instructions in English.

Yet another great feature about Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin is the remote washing machine watcher. Inside your room, you’ll know if your clothes are ready for pick up. Just turn the TV on and turn to the laundry status – and you can see on the screen how many minutes left before your freshly laundered clothes are ready.

Check the laundry status in the comfort of your room!

Of course, what’s not to be missed are the microwave oven, the ice machine, and the vending machine found on the 8th floor of Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin.
