Huis Ten Bosch theme park – Huis Ten Bosch has always been on my Fukuoka itinerary even before we booked flight tickets. You know why? Read on to find out!
You finally decided to include Huis Ten Bosch in the things to do in Fukuoka. But you’re afraid the price you have to pay if you stay at Huis Ten Bosch hotels. Worry not! I reviewed the hotel we stayed at during our Nagasaki visit.
Hotel Okura JR Huis Ten Bosch, is one of the best Japan hotels we stayed at. Besides being close to Huis Ten Bosch theme park, we chose it because of its affordable price and the service you can get.

Huis Ten Bosch pronunciation

When I first saw the words “Huis Ten Bosch,” I was dumbfounded as to how it should be pronounced. Just like other English terms, Huis Ten Bosch is read as “haus ten bosh.” But just so you know, the Japanese call it “hausu ten bosu.”
So what does Huis Ten Bosch mean?
Coming from Dutch term, Huis Ten Bosch means “House in the Woods.” And once you see how it looks, you’ll agree with the person who created it. Nestled in the woods are lots of houses – and I don’t even know if someone is living in them.

But they look really lovely, especially if you could see them from the top. Our Hotel Okura JR Huis Ten Bosch room had a very nice balcony view – we chose the park view, of course, it’s pricier, but it was definitely worth it!
Huis Ten Bosch from Fukuoka

From Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin, we left early to get to Huis Ten Bosch the earliest possible time. And to do that, we used our JR Kyushu Rail Pass – which covers the Limited Express Midori going to Huis Ten Bosch.
Apart from saving a lot with this JR Pass, we also avoided the hassle of transferring different trains. Best of all, we got great seats even though they were NON RESERVED seats.
Huis Ten Bosch entrance fee
Before you purchase your Huis Ten Bosch Japan ticket, you have to check first when you’re going in. Because if you plan to enjoy only the night lights, you can get DISCOUNTED tickets – called the Afternoon Pass.
Otherwise, you get the 1-Day Passport, that allows you to 40 attractions and facilities in the park.
Huis Ten Bosch opening hours: typically from 9 AM to 10 PM
Better to check the Huis Ten Bosch official website for a more accurate opening time.

Huis Ten Bosch official app

One of the things we missed to do before going to Huis Ten Bosch theme park is downloading its app. I dunno why, but our pocket WIFI didn’t let us download the app when we got to the Dutch-themed place.
So, make sure to download it on your phone before you get there – just to be sure. The Huis Ten Bosch app is very useful because you can easily locate places in it.
Hotel Okura to Huis Ten Bosch

Hotel Okura’s staff told us to go to the hotel’s back door to ride the boat to get to Huis Ten Bosch. And when we got there, there was a boat waiting for passengers. We arrived just in time for the boat ride. Had we arrived a minute late, we could’ve have had to wait for another hour to get to Huis Ten Bosch.
Huis Ten Bosch amusement park attractions
You might think that Huis Ten Bosch is just any other Japan theme parks, but you’ll be surprised at how much you’ll see inside.
Welcome area

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with 4 different parts of the welcome area. At the Teddy Bear Kingdom 700 bears from artists and manufacturers all over the world is gathered. The Teddy Bear Museum houses many rare and valuable bear items on display.

There’s even a giant bear with the height of 3.6 meters at the entrance – and where you can get your photos taken. They also print out souvenir photos (but you have to pay for them to get the bigger printout) for you to take home.

Ride the Canal Cruiser to enjoy a 360-degree view of Huis Ten Bosch. Relax as you travel along 6km long canal. If you want, you can also ride the Gondola along the canal instead of the cruiser.
And since Huis Ten Bosch is huge, you can rent cycles, called fiets in Dutch, in Harbor Town. They have single, double, and four-seater – so choose which one’s the best for you.
Adventure Park

Huis Ten Bosch can’t let adventurous people like you and me down that’s why it has the Adventure Park, where you can get your adrenaline rush. Choose among Shooting Star, Sky Castle, or Sky Rail Coaster – or why not try them all? – and bring out the kid in you.

Hubby tried the Sky Rail Coaster and said that he got a bit of a headache afterward. But he said that it was worth the try because it was also fun.
Attraction Town
But what you shouldn’t miss when you’re in Huis Ten Bosch Fukuoka is the Attraction Town. In it, you’ll get your creativity and imagination run wild.

In this area, there are many VR experiences you might want to try. And this is also where we spend a lot of time because there are children attractions like carousel, kids play area, and trick art museum.
We rode Mission Deepsea Xsense Ride, and it our son had a lot of fun inside. While it wasn’t his first time trying out a virtual reality ride, it seemed he believed what he sees is real. I believe it was a nice experience for our son.

- VR World: Torrent Rafting
- VR World – Ultra Reverse Bungee
- Horizon Adventure

We rode the Sky Carousel because it was one of a kind, and because our kid wanted to. Of course, we went up to the 3rd floor because not all carousels have it. And it was a nice experience being able to have a wide range of sight from our seat.

Of course, we couldn’t not let our son check the Kids World – Fantasy Forest. Upon getting inside, we knew it was a big mistake because it kept our son busy for many minutes – and we had to convince him there are other great things outside to get him out.
The place was huge and was a very nice place to rest (we even saw some adults sleeping in some areas). And if you have very young kids, it’s a nice play area because most of the inside are safe space – many have padded walls, so kids won’t hurt themselves if they accidentally bump their heads.
Then, there’s the IS Labyrinth, where you must walk slowly because you just might bump into yourself! The mirror everywhere is very confusing and you might think it’s the right path, but actually it’s fake!
PRO Tip: Put up your hands as you walk so you can touch if there’s a mirror in front. Confusing as it was, we had a lot of fun!

Of course, another thing you should check is the Super Trick Art. Finding Instagrammable spots inside is not hard because every corner is a great way to play with your eyes. The next thing you know, you’re gonna update your profile pic soon!

Art Garden

You’ll immediately know if you arrive at the Art Garden. When you see a large field of garden and a fountain, then you’ve already reached the Art Garden. Take note of the place because it’s where you’ll find a huge lighted area at night.

To get a 360-degree view of Huis Ten Bosch park, ride the White Ferris Wheel and relax while you’re in it. And if you want to experience feeling like a European aristocrat, then head on to Horse Land, where you can ride horse-drawn carriages along the cobblestone landscape.
You have to pay a fee of 1,500 JPY (570.19 PHP or 9.94 USD) and 1,000 JPY (380.14 PHP or 6.63 USD) for children to ride the Horse Land.

Fantasia City of Lights
If you and your children love lights, then it’s a must you visit the attractions found at the Fantasia of Lights. Not only will you relax while inside the spots, you can also enjoy the marvelous lights playing around you.
We checked out Art Fantasia and were touched by the story inside (I think that’s just me), because it seemed my other peers were relaxing inside (if you get what I mean). Inside are chairs and the cool air conditioning unit, so you’ll surely have a good time watching the silent film.
- Flower Fantasia
- Space Fantasia
- Carillon Fantasia
- Aquarium Fantasia
- Playground Fantasia
- Art Fantasia

At Flower Fantasia, we enjoyed smelling flowers – they have a space where they put flower scents and you’re free to smell them if you wish. But they presented it in different way – you’re gonna open the petri dishes to smell scents, and you’ll learn what they’re called because the flower name appears after.

We also entered Aquarium Fantasia and inside, you’ll feel like underwater. Colorful schools of fish will surround you and you can watch how the projected lights react as you touch them.

Me and hubby planned to check Playground Fantasia, because it didn’t allow young kids to play. However, upon checking, we noticed that the activity is not to our liking, plus we’re afraid we might spend a lot of time inside, so we decided to just leave.
I dunno if the other attractions above were open during our visit, but we didn’t get the chance to check them out. So, if you love lights, maybe you can check them out!
Amsterdam City

Amsterdam City is known for its artistic heritage, so it’s no wonder that they have the Glass Museum in this Huis Ten Bosch area. We checked it out and were amazed at the nice glass collections inside.

Every colorful glass piece has its own story to tell and there was even a large chandelier inside that would make you think “What happens if it suddenly has an earthquake?” But I can’t say why I was in awe about every glass thing inside the museum.

Tower City

If you’re afraid to ride the Ferris Wheel, but want to see Huis Ten Bosch Hotel (Nagasaki) and its theme park, you can go up the Tower City Domtoren and enjoy the whole city. But apart from seeing the whole Huis Ten Bosch amusement park, you also see the sky, sun, and everything else in between.
Harbor Town

More adventure await you when you go to Huis Ten Bosch Harbor Town. Enjoy the thrill of playing with your family and friends when you go to Jurassic Island. Just ride the boat to get there and you’ll surely have loads of fun there.
Since we’re talking about boats, why not ride the Resort Ship Mariella if you want to experience delicious food with mesmerizing fireworks display.
Another thing we missed during our visit is the Go & Go!! Sniper Game. Add some thrill to your visit when you go here because you’re going to use authentic air guns to make you feel like you’re at a firing station.

Porcelain Museum, which houses 3,000 pieces of porcelain, is a place where you can see and feel like you’ve traveled back in time. The ceramics museum showcases art traces which happened between the East and the West dating back to mid-17th century.
