Yawn Myself to Sleep

Right before I started this sentence, I just finished my yawn. Yawning to us means that we are already sleepy. Whenever we see someone yawning, we immediately think that that person needs to catch his snooze. But what does it really mean? What do you think is the connection between the two? Does being in a yawning state make us really feel the need go take a nap?

When we yawn, we experience sleepiness, tiredness and we would want to lay on the most comfortable and fluffy bed. We would find our eyelids closing on their own.

However, medically speaking, yawning does not really mean that way. The action causes us to inhale more oxygen in. The reason behind our yawning is because we lack oxygen in our brains. It does not literally mean that we are sleepy, rather, our bodies are only sending signal that there is not that much movement, and that we need more oxygen in. (And so, I had another yawn. Haha)

There are times though, that when we see others yawning, we would also find ourselves yawning in no time. So how do you explain this event? This happens because of so called positive feedback. No explanation on this. It just happens that way. Anyway, no problem about that. Because when I see someone copying my yawning, or vice versa, we both ended up laughing our hearts out. So in the end, we would be doing ourselves a favor because laughter is the best medicine. 😉

So since it is already 9:30 in the evening, I might as well get ready for bed, and (I had my yawn again) have a good night’s sleep. 🙂
